Geometric Tiling
About
An ongoing exploration of geometric tiling — how patterns are constructed and how they tessellate. The work focuses on the underlying geometry: the rules of symmetry, subdivision, and repetition that give rise to complex compositions from simple elements.
The pieces are produced using a mix of traditional printmaking equipment — letterpress and etching presses, woodcut blocks — and modern fabrication tools like laser cutters and CNC engraving machines. Modern technology makes it possible to work at a level of fine detail that would be difficult to achieve by hand alone, while the traditional presses give each print a physical quality that digital output can't replicate.
